The most recent episode of Rubbish Talk has just been released! Alasdair and Elleisha have returned with a variety of environmental updates, including insights into Halloween pumpkin waste. Our special guest for the week is Pam Walker, who serves as the Northeast Waste Projects Manager at Aberdeen City Council.
Pam has been Northeast Waste Projects Manager for the Ness Energy Project in Aberdeen for around a month. Previously, she was Waste & Recycling Manager for Aberdeen City Council, a role which she had fulfilled since 2017.
Pam began her local authority career back in 1992 in Kincardine & Deeside District Council and has worked in a variety of waste management roles in both Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City Councils since then and has led and been involved in several large-scale infrastructure developments and service changes during that time. Pam is a Chartered member of CIWM and sits on the Scotland Centre Council and is also co-chair of the Local Authority Waste Manager’s Network in Scotland.

- Battery compliance schemes have combined to launch Battrecyle, a national network of 30,000 collection points for unwanted batteries. It will try to raise awareness of battery recycling by offering an online locater for collections.
- Ban wet wipes containing plastic – A key measure in the UK Government’s Plan for Water, the ban forms part of the government’s ongoing work to ensure there is more investment, stronger regulation and tougher enforcement across the water system, helping tackle plastic and microplastic pollution and improve water quality.
