Keep Scotland Beautiful Highlights Urgent Action Needed on Litter and Flytipping Ahead of 2026 Election

Rubbish Talk is pleased to share an update from Keep Scotland Beautiful, following their recent engagement with us about Scotland’s ongoing litter and flytipping challenges and the opportunities ahead to drive real change.

After reading our recent blog “Rubbish Rules and Realities”  with John Crawford, Keep Scotland Beautiful reached out to highlight the importance of Scotland’s Litter and Flytipping Strategy, the latest national data, and what actions will be required from the next Scottish Parliament to address problems communities across the country continue to face.

Keep Scotland Beautiful has recently published new research showing that seven in ten people feel embarrassed by the state of litter in their neighbourhoods, reflecting a growing national concern and a strong public appetite for improvements. Their full article, “Hands up if litter makes you embarrassed of your neighbourhood – if yes, seven in ten people agree with you,” is available to read on their website:

We’re delighted that Keep Scotland Beautiful is happy for us to share their insights, and we look forward to exploring the wider work underway to support Scotland’s cleaner-communities ambitions. With Spring Clean 2026 coming in March, a targeted week of action on roadside litter in February, and a national election on the horizon, there has never been a more important moment to highlight both the issues—and the solutions.

Keep Scotland Beautiful has a wealth of research and data that can help inform public conversations about environmental stewardship and community wellbeing. We look forward to discussing this further and exploring a potential podcast episode in early 2026 to dive deeper into the findings and the policy changes needed.

Rubbish Talk remains committed to promoting collaboration across the sector, and we appreciate Keep Scotland Beautiful’s continued leadership and willingness to share their work with our audience.
