Our guest this week is Robert Robb, Manager within the Waste Resources/Street Scene Services within North Ayrshire Council.
Robert has worked in Waste Management his full career since he first started as a bin man in the late 70s. He is very passionate about his family/friends, the Waste Management Services, Standing up for the Public Sector, Golfing, Poetry and Mindfulness.
His current portfolio of work includes Managing a Strategy and Contracts team who look after Commercial Waste, Waste Compliance, Service Procurement and Contracts, 3rd Sector Partnerships, Strategic Development and Service Awareness.
In addition, Robert has also started “Mindfulness Gap” which offers unique mindfulness solutions from tips, guidance, wellbeing poetry and videos on his social media platforms, to short virtual pop up or drop in, context-based practices for individuals and small groups. Disposable Vapes to be Banned in UK
Disposable vapes will be banned in the UK as part of ambitious government plans to tackle the rise in youth vaping and protect children’s health:
Ban on disposable vapes which have driven alarming rise in youth vaping.
New powers to restrict vape flavours, introduce plain packaging and change how vapes are displayed in shops so they don’t appeal to children.
New law will make it illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009, delivering on the Prime Minister’s pledge to create a smoke free generation.
Development of Dry Anaerobic Digestion Plants in Manchester
Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Waste and Recycling Committee approved an option to commission the building in the North West of two dry anaerobic digestion (AD) plants – the very first plants ever built in England – as part of its Biowaste Management Strategy. The Strategy will now be submitted to the GMCA for full approval.

EXCLUSIVE: Firms are waiting up to 20 months for the Environment Agency to issue bespoke permits, with consultants telling ENDS that firms are being left with “no choice” but to operate without a permit because they “can’t afford to wait”.
